Joachim Leonardy, born in 1967, is one of the outstanding experts in contemporary piano making. His undeniably deep understanding of the highly complex physical relationships within a piano or grand piano, and his ability to apply this knowledge equally well, make him one of the most sought-after experts for piano construction in all the necessary trades without exception. His specialist seminars and workshops, which generate enormous interest at all major piano-making events worldwide, are regularly fully booked well in advance.

All of this has a long and consistent history: Joachim Leonardy's entire professional life has revolved around the piano. Since beginning his training as a piano maker, he hasn't dealt with any instruments: Even at his teaching company, the Saarland University of Music in Saarbrücken, there were practically only top-quality grand pianos. Here, he gained valuable experience in concert performances, but also, at an early stage, gained experience working with professional pianists.

He subsequently deepened his experience at a renowned piano manufacturer, working in service, the workshop, and sales, as well as on concert stages. During this time, he also completed his master craftsman's examination as an external examiner in Ludwigsburg.

Joachim Leonardy eventually brought the knowledge he had acquired to Kitzingen to the renowned Seiler piano factory. Now, with his own methodology and understanding, he was finally able to manage quality assurance, later assuming responsibility for the entire production and even the construction of complete instruments, such as the Seiler 278.

Due to his professional arrangement with Seiler, trade fairs, conferences, and continuing education courses took him all over the world, where he soon attracted attention with his exceptional expertise. Thus, small insider workshops, such as those for the Association of German Piano Builders, evolved into sought-after expert seminars that delved deeper into the subject matter than usual.

In 2008, he transitioned from design and production to become one of the world's most important specialist wholesalers for piano components. At JAHN PIANOTEILE, which has also been selling hand-made specialty tools and a wide range of accessories since 1948, Joachim's experience is an integral part of JAHN's exceptionally high level of expertise. As an expert, he clearly shapes the product range and brings traditional and innovative solutions to the best piano makers in a distinctive way.

Today, Joachim Leonardy sets the standard for trade events and association conferences worldwide. In October at Music China in Shanghai and at the end of January at the PIPPA event, he will be holding interesting workshops as a piano-making expert together with JAHN Pianoteile and will be in private with insiders, before sharing his expertise with German and European piano makers at the now equally renowned akustika trade fair in Nuremberg in April.

But Joachim Leonardy has retained one thing: In his piano workshop in Kitzingen, he also breathes new life into one or two treasures of piano making. If it's up to him, this should remain an absolute insider tip.
